Occupational Safety and Health Training

INTRODUCTION

• Knowledge and skills on occupation health and safety management in business organizations, construction, central and local government authorities, academic institutions, and voluntary organizations are very important in order to make the working environment safe. Occupation Health and Safety may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment.
• OSHE Course spearheads on Electrical and Pressure Hazards, hazard identification or assessment, as an important step in the overall risk assessment and risk management process. It is where individual work hazards are identified, assessed, and controlled/eliminated as close to the source (location of the hazard) as reasonably as possible. In line with this fact, Research Experts of Tanzania (RET) is organizing a comprehensive training course on Occupational Health and safety.

TRAINING OBJECTIVE

• To impart knowledge and skills on important aspects of occupational health and safety
• To impart a good understanding of the key concepts of Occupation Health and safety at the workplace

TRAINING OUTCOMES
After completing this course, participants should be able to:

• Introduction to Occupational Safety and Health,
• Workplace Hazard Identification Theory and Practice,
• Machinery Safety, Risk Identification, and Assessment,
• Electrical and Pressure Hazards, Occupational Health and Hygiene,
• Fire, Explosions and Hazardous Materials,
• Development of Company/Workplace Health and Safety Management

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

• The training will cover the theories and practices on occupational health and safety. The participatory methodology will be adopted in the teaching and learning process.

TRAINING ORGANIZATION AND DURATION

• The training will be conducted every day from 08:00 to 16:00 hours
• The Training will be facilitated by a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer from Research Experts of Tanzania with more than 10 years of experience on OSH

TARGETED APPLICANTS AND ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

• Project Manager, M&E officials, Engineers, supervisors and administrators, heads of section, Quality Control Units, and individuals who are interested to develop their carrier in OSH
• Project planners and researchers, contractors who need knowledge and skills on important aspects of occupational health and safety, understanding of the key concepts of Occupation Health and Safety at the workplace

REQUIRED FACILITIES

• Participants should attend online with their own laptops for practicals.

ACCREDITATION

• Any registered engineer who will attend this course as scheduled is eligible to score more than 15+ Professional Development Units [PDUs] from ERB
